How can we forget #blacklivesmatter and #noracism in all over our social media sites. It is true that America has been fighting this problem for a long time. But it is not just American thing. We cannot deny the fact that racial discrimination is a thing in India whether it is based on caste, colour or region. Today we will talk about colour discrimination in India.
In the report in 2020 the Print says that the market of Indian fairness cream was nearly 3000 crore in 2019. Probably there is no girl in India who has never used a fairness cream in her life. Lot of people purchase fairness creams and shops. And they just do not care if those products are harmful for their skin just because they want a lighter skin tone.
In some families it is common in India to get sad if a girl is born. But then people think that what if she is a girl at least she is beautiful and she has fair skin tone. Somehow we are obsessed with white skin tone. We adore foreigners like a celebrity only if they have white skin tone. Seeing Black cats as bad luck just because of the colour of their fur. Isn’t it colour discrimination? Black crows are also seen as bad luck. Isn’t it just superstitious? But it has become a part of our culture.
Now let's talk about beauty mobile applications. Over millions of people have downloaded beauty applications in India. These applications do nothing but brighten our faces. We workship lord Krishna and we adore the fact that he had dark skin tone. There is no light without darkness. Every colour has its own beauty. The world will look ugly without black colour. All humans can’t be the same and their skin colour too. It is ok to be different. All skins are beautiful in their own way. Skin colour has nothing to do with health. Being healthy should be the most important thing in our life. There is nothing wrong with having black skin colour. It should never be the parameter of beauty. And discrimination just because of skin colour makes no sense.
